Christmas Update

WOW! Christmas came and went SO fast! I think people spend more time preparing than acually celebrating! :) I hope you had a good Christmas, Hannukah (I hope I spelled that right), Kwanza or whatever you celebrate :). I got lots of cool stuff and I'm very grateful. I now have an iPod touch and some more cool clothes and CDs. I gave my 2-year-old sister, Abbie, my old wallet with a cute little dog on the front. Very sweet! On the other hand, Abbie got some new Strawberry Shortcake DVDs that are about as sickly sweet as a pile of rotten bananas. At least they keep her quiet for a while. Thank you for supporting Emmels World and Danielle, if you are reading this, the bananas did not get through to me. Abbie already got the banana in her stocking anyways, so don't worry. Thank you.

Christmas Shopping Guide

You might be a parent, grandma, friend, it doesn't matter. You are reading this because you want to get a gift for Christmas for a special person in your life and you have no clue what to get them. Read this and you'll have an idea.

Baby
For a baby, you could get them a cute outfit. Another good idea is a plush toy or stuffed animal. A baby also might like a book with flaps or fabric to feel. They like different textures.

Toddler
A toddler might want a toy with wheels to pull around, since they had started walking. Also, they might like toys that roll or make noise. Books that read themselves are good for them, too. They keep them interested.

Young Kid (2-3)
A young kid might want something with a character from a TV show on it, such as a Dora purse or Barney stuffed animals. Boys might like a toy car, a girl might opt for a doll.

Preschooler- Kindergartener
Boys and girls might like paints and crayons. boys can be found playing with action figures, while girls might like dolls with hair they can style and plastic make-up.

1st Grade-2nd Grade
Girls want things they can make, such as beads for bracalets or glitter stickers to decorate their school supplies. Boys might like little collectible toys or cards to trade with friends.

3rd-5th Grade
Girls like pajamas, notebooks, and accessories. Boys want skateboards, ripsticks, bikes, scooters, and any accessories for them.

Middle Schoolers
Boys and girls want gift cards to stores or, if they have an iPod, a gift card to iTunes. Cellphone cases are popular.

High Schoolers
They want money, because they feel responsible enough to spend it usefully, and they might want to shop with friends.

Collage+
Decorative things or candles for women, men might like tickets to a sports event, Nascar race, or monster truck rally.

I hope that now you have an idea or two on what to get that special person for Christmas. Thanks for reading. :)

You Kept a Piece of Me

I loved you,
yes I did.
I loved you,
through and through.
I loved you,
yes I did.
I loved you,
sweet and true.
You will always keep a piece of me.

I thought you'd be my friend forever,
but that didn't last.
I thought you'd be my friend forever,
but that was in the past.
I thought you'd be my friend forever,
but it didn't last.
I thought you'd be my friend forever,
but you will always have a piece of me.

Then there came that day,
were we left you and I was hurt.
Then there came that day,
when I was kicked to the dirt.
Then there came that day,
were we left you and I was hurt.
Then there came that day,
but you will always have a piece of me.

This poem is about my old dog, Ruby. We used to have so much fun, but we had to give her away. Later we would visit her, once every year. But all of a sudden, we stopped visiting her. I asked my mom why. She didn't tell me until years later that it was because Ruby had died of cancer. I love you, Ruby. You kept a piece of me.

Fame

You may want to be famous,
with the glamour and the money,
but when people bring you down,
your hopes feel a little funny.

You think they're right,
It was never meant to be,
maybe I'm wrong about myself,
maybe fame isn't right for me

But no, they're wrong, they have no clue,
about what one is meant to do.
So stand tall, and let it roll
your confidence won't pay the toll.

The Library

Close your eyes. You walk in and get a warm feeling, as you see little girls on oversized chairs looking at picture books with big flowers, happy children, sunlight, and toy shops filled with teddy bears and dolls and little girls counting their coins. The smell of freshly cut paper drifts past your nose and you peer at the shelves. You walk by countless titles and authors that are waiting to be discovered and colorful signs with characters from baby shows. Then you climb a mountain of stairs, and arrive at a world of thick books and thin print. The librarian asks you if you have a card, and you bring your books home. Then you open your eyes and rub them, then adjust your position on the couch.

A Poem

Beautiful.
Wonderful.
Generous.
Supportive.
Sweet.
Kind.
Amazing.
Life-changing.
The reason why I write.
Whoever just read that poem, that is about you.

Early

The sunlight shone on my face like a shiny pearl. The pure warmth of it relaxed me and made me snuggle into my purple comforter. It was like a silk layer of comfort and heat. I laid there, appreciating the moment. The birds were chirping, singing sweet, lovely songs about dreams and the morning that not even the Rosetta tone can understand. The trees have leaves that have small beads of dew that remind me of crystals. The window I'm looking out of is my only way of seeing the beautiful outside world. So I enjoy a few more minutes in the warmth of my bed and then get dressed and go outside. But morning is gone. It has disappered into mid-morning, and I lost the experience for those few minutes. But there's always tomorrow, I think to myself, and now, I have to live today to the fullest!

Flying

As I ran to the edge, I sucked in all my breath.
And then, as if there was an airbag pushing me back, I stopped and teetered.
Do I really want to do this?
To late.
I fell.
The crisp wind wooshed between my toes and through my hair and wrapped around me like a security blanket of cold.
That was when I felt the ground leave, as if it had crumbled into thin air.
That loss of safety made a chill run up my spine.
I was falling.
I whisked through the air and dipped and dived and twirled and flipped and spun and twisted into so many random shapes I felt like a pretzel.
And then, as I spiraled downward, I finally hit the cool water underneath me with the tips of my toes and the last of the wind stung my cheeks before I plunged below the waters surface.
I realized that I hadn't been falling. I had been flying.
And then my eyes popped open. I was warm safe and sound, snuggled inder my covers with the pure, golden sunlight I love shining down on me.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ME!!!

Thank you to all of you who have ever supported me in my writing! Whether you have critisized it or complemented on it, it highlighted my rights and wrongs, improving my knowledge of my capabilities in literature. I am very lucky to have you beautiful, wonderful, and helpful people out there. All of you, along with my passion for the written arts, keep me going. I just wanted to say, thanks!

In the Dawn of the Daylight

In the dawn of the daylight, the sun emerged from its nap. The grass was sprinkled with sparkling beads of dew. The flowers that were set to budd in springtime but had already been scattered by the air as little seeds prior to this moment poked their heads up to watch the warmth of the sunrays errupt across the sky. A small breaths-worth of wind floated to the gorgeous scene to capture the beautiful moment. The wind tickled the leaves of the trees, and they shook slightly with laughter, waking nature, and that nature passing laughter and shaking all around the world, like a line of dominoes. One more, Earth was aware of itself.

Giggles, Toys, and Everything in Between

Today my mom  is driving from New Hampshire to New York to get my cousin Destiny. Since she has work today, three of her daycare client's kids are here. They are currently playing happily with puzzles while my mom's client, Misti, is helping take care of the kids. My sister and her friend are both asleep upstairs. But it wasn't always as peaceful as it is now.

First, Abbie, my little sister, wouldn't eat her pancake. We let her put a few rainbow sprinkles on her pancake. I went to get some milk. I spilled it all over the floor! Later, when I came back, Abbie had dumped a bunch of sprinkles EVERYWHERE!

Then, in the playroom (our special play area), Abbie and Joey were fighting over a costume from our dress-up box, and Baby Jack, Misti's son, started crying. Next, Abbie took one of Joey's puzzle pieces, and it took about 10 minutes of Misti and I prodding and Joey whining to get it back.

Finally, Abbie gave back the puzzle piece and the kids all started playing together, Baby Jack stopped crying, and it was peaceful again.

Sunshine

Golden rays of pure warmth shine down on me from up above.
A gorgeous cloud of encasing heat wraps around me like a blanket.
A little piece of the sky is my spotlight.
Gorgeous, timelessness love of the sunshine is all I can think about.

The House for Sale

There is a house across the street from me. My mom said I could explore it. I bounded down my driveway to the mailbox of the house. There's a cobweb covered well next to it filled with dirty water and rusty coins. In the mailbox there's a number of tattered old phamplets and an unpaid bill notice from two summers ago. I jumped around the mailbox and well to the driveway. There's cobblestones leading from the mailbox to the yard, but instead of taking that path, I made a beeline for the stepping stones guiding me to the garden.

There were stepping stones in the garden, too, with overgrown clumps of moss in all shades of green, hugging it like a fitted pea coat. A number of wilted flowers heads drooped over the soil in which they had been planted. A few flies were poking around a vegetable garden, and there were knats on the fruit. The herbs smelled very strongly and were left bee by bugs.

On the exterior of the shed, there were chips in the paint, and when I peered in through the window, there were clusters of dust. A musty smell rose from it. There was an old clock and a trowel in the corner, long forgotten. I tapped on the glass to see if any bug critters were inside, but it seemed to be barren.

What an interesting house, I thought as I walked home.

Fun Size Friends

My mom's friend Melissa came over today. She brought her daughter, Madison, 5, and her son, Ethan, 3. I gave her the idea for the name Madison. We hung out on the deck and ate ice cream. I'm never bored when they're over. We talk about what we have been up to and what we have planned. I love the kids and I always want to be a part of their lives.

Angela and the Sleepover!

Angela, one of my best friends, is here to spend the night! We made corn muffins (there was a 2 for a dollar sale at Market Basket), watched some television, danced :), and decided to go blogging! We are really good friends and our friendship means the world to me. She really likes to sing. She also likes the color purple. She understands me and we relate really well. Love her! Angela would like to say some words about our friendship:

"I am never bored when I'm with Emily. You will definitely not see any people just like us together. We are a really unique pair, and you would never expect two people like us to be best friends."

She means the world to me, and I love to spend time with Angela. We are going to have the best times together!

Maddie is Here!

My cousin Madison is here! She is an avid softball player. She is telling me what to write now:

I'm Madison and I'm awesome.

That is all she had to say. I love her a lot. I hope you guys like my blog! Thanks.

Night Water

The crystal water looked so bright in the crisp moonlight. So perfectly clear you could see the pebbles dancing with the shallow waves that were lapping at the shore. Small fish that were colorful in the afternoon sun had their brightness washed away by the pale moon, becoming just nondescript moving objects. At the time I was focused on the sky, though, so black it looked like it was sleeping, nestled in a dark blanket. I ran my hand through the water, and the cold sort of shocked me, sending an electrifying shiver through my body, as if the cool night had dissolved into the water giving it that defining chill. I dragged a finger across the warm sand. It took the bite out of the frigid water that was left clinging to my hand like little drops of glue. Ahhh. All was better.

Getting Creative

Today, me and my wonderful grandmother (who is an artist) decorated some plain wooden boxes. Mine is painted cadmium red, emerald, ultramarine, and tawny gold. I put a button, a stamp, and some purple glitter vines on it and arranged them into a cute smiley face. I really like it. If you would like to see some of my grandmother's work, her Etsy shop address is http://www.etsy.com/shop/roxy5235.
